Affiliate’s Road to Financial Freedom

Posted in Affiliate Marketing, General, Internet Marketing at 4:04 am by Alok Jain

Affiliate Marketing can be as easy or as hard as you want it to be. I have come across Affiliate Marketers who start off quite successfully, making 1000s of dollars in the first few months. But after a few months, their income goes down and they find it tough to regain their earlier success.

On the other hand, there are a few Affiliate Marketers who know how to grow their income month on month. These are the smart guys - who know that Affiliate Marketing, if used efficiently, can make you financially free very soon.

What’s the difference between these two group of Marketers? How do some people see success only in the short run, while a few others grow their affiliate income month on month?

The answer is very simple - its got to do with the kind of products you promote. The smart guys know that long term success in Affiliate Marketing comes by promoting products that pay recurring. They promote the product one time, but the income from the promotion is recurring.

Let me explain this idea with some numbers. Consider two Affiliate Marketers - Jack and David. Both of them start off together as Affiliate Marketers.

In the first month, Jack promotes a product that pays $50 in one time commission. He sells 10 of these and makes a handsome $500 in commissions. But David knows better than that. He puts in the same amount of time and effort as Jack, but promotes a product that pays $25 per month in commissions (its a recurring billing product). He sells 10 of these in the first month and locks for himself $250 in commissions every month.

Now, lets assume the same routine happens in the second month as well. So Jack makes another $500 in month 2, but so does David.

Things get interesting from the 3rd month onwards. Assuming both Jack and David do exactly as earlier, Jack makes his $500 but David has increased his earnings to $750. And remember, both have again put in the same time and efforts.

At the end of the year, Jack would have made $6000 in affiliate commissions. But smart-man David has made a whopping $19500 in commissions for the year.

And here’s the better part… after the year ends, even if David decides to take a break from it all, he will continue to make $3000 every month without having to raise a finger. But our man, Jack, will have to continue doing what he did to earn his $500 a month.

So who would you rather be - Jack or David? Affiliate Marketing gives you the opportunity to work smart, to secure your financial future. All you need to do is think smart and long term. Think like David. If you are putting in 2-3 hours a day promoting a product, promote something that pays you recurring. You may make fewer sales now, but in the long run, you are guaranteed to earn a solid passive income.

Yes, I know, I know! A few of David’s customers will stop the recurring payments after a few months. But he will still have a few others who continue to feed him commissions across months. All he has to do is promote good, recurring billing products with high retention rates.

The point I am trying to make here is - when you start with Affiliate Marketing, you have a choice. Most people don’t realize this and come out of one rat-race (of the corporate world) to join another rat race (of the Internet Marketing world).

If you want to be a successful Internet Marketer, throw away the short-term mentality. Think long term and think smart - Affiliate Marketing gives you the luxury to do that.

Have a good one! And do let me know what you think by posting a comment below.

This can be a goldmine for Affiliates

Posted in Affiliate Marketing, Internet Marketing, Web 2.0 at 6:51 am by Alok Jain

The Web 2.0 arena is developing very fast and I have been busy experimenting with some of these developments. I strongly believe that Web 2.0 sites, if used correctly, is a goldmine for Affiliate Marketers. I have used many of these sites in recent times to generate handsome commissions.

Over the last few days, I have been goofing around with one such Web 2.0 website. And I am amazed with its potential and what it has in store for Affilites. The results have been excellent.

I am talking about a new feature added to the popular Web 2.0 website, technorati.com. Technorati is essentially a blog search engine. But it has evolved into much more than that in recent times. The new feature they have added is called WTF (Where’s The Fire?)

Technorati WTF allows users to add a story and comment on it. You can also add links where required. This is nothing different from what many other sites have been doing. But what sets WTF apart (from an Internet Marketer’s point of view) is their high search rankings on Google.

So how can this be of any use to you? Here’s how - you can use Technorati WTF to write reviews on Internet Marketing products and include your affiliate links in those reviews. Make sure to use the name of the product in the URL, title and many times in the review itself.

Your target customer are those people who search for the name of the product on Google and other search engines. (Some good Internet Marketing products have got as many as 10,000 searches on their launch day).

If you create a well structured and optimized WTF, then there is a good chance that it will appear on the first page of Google results. This may take a few days to happen, but once it does - you will start generating good affiliate income. And all that for just 10 minutes of work.

And yes, Technorati WTF is completely free to use - just like the other Web 2.0 websites. They are still very new and not many people know about their existence. This is the perfect time to capitalize on it.

I have already floated some WTFs for different Internet Marketing products and the results have been excellent. Not all my WTFs have made it to the front page of Google results, but that will be too much to ask for. I have created around 12 WTFs till now - 4 of them have made it to the first page, 3 appear in the second page of Google and the others have not produced anything till now.

7 out of 12 has me pretty excited and I am working towards optimizing the WTFs to get better results. I will keep you updated if I find anything interesting. Right now, I suggest you head to http://technorati.com/wtf/ and create your WTFs without any delay.
